Sunlight Projects
As a
stand for revitalizing and transforming the arts in education, we
have set up the Ritual Sunlight Project. The goal of this endeavor
is to offer unique arts programs to communities across the globe
who are interested in empowering the younger generations as the
seeds of the future. Through inter-disciplinary arts & music
programs, tailored to each individual community, youth are invited
to work in a group to explore personal, societal and cultural issues.
Activities develop out of a wide range of creative mediums such
as photography, video, writing, earthworks, music and theatre.
Ritual Sunlight is especially focused on working with at-risk and
low income communities, with the intention of offering youth an
opportunity to express themselves in ways that may not usually be
available to them. There is a cross-cultural aspect to the project
which encourages the bridging of gaps between cultures, races and
religions through a process of artistic exchange.
The inter-disciplinary approach of the project gives access to the
inherent connections underlying not only the creative process, but
also the relationships of our daily lives. At the heart of the project
is the idea that through a shift in perception there is an opportunity
to respond more creatively to the circumstances of life. Perhaps
the challenges we, and especially the youth, are faced with today
are rooted more in our limited perception rather than in the inadequacies
of our society or our selves. With an expanded understanding of
how our thoughts and actions affect everything around us, we can
begin to bring a more inclusive attitude to the complex choices
we are faced with everyday.
These and many other issues are what Ritual Sunlight is committed
to exploring in a fun, innovative and thought-provoking atmosphere.
Such an environment is key to supporting the healthy growth of young
people overwhelmed by social pressures, media influence and political
cynicism.
By breaking old patterns of education we can develop a safe and
fertile ground for the youth to integrate the wisdom that they are
now bringing in to the world. It is they who will carry us through
these times of change.
