RETURN

THAT BIG TREE

by Tsering Dhundup

When the stars were shining
And the moon looked like the queen,
Everything was silence except the wind.
I was feeling lonely and homesick.

I missed my darling mother
With lots of tears falling from my eyes.
My little heart was filled with sorrow
And it seemed to be burning in the flame.

When I was recalling my mum,
How she loved me so much,
The big tree in front of my room
Suddenly changed into my mother.

I went and held that tree and kissed it
And I shared all my loneliness with it.
It kindly consoled me with love
So then my deep sorrow was over.

When my homesickness was gone,
My dear mother was not there either.
I was only holding that big tree,
But my loneliness and sadness had left.
